It’s loopy-light too - after we show you what tech is rammed below the hood, you will be amazed that all of it goes in a tool that weighs only a shade over 100g (116g, to be precise).

Samsung clearly traded the premium feel an all-metallic chassis may need brought to hold the grams off the Galaxy S2 - pop the battery cover off and you’ll find you’re holding a bit of fairly flimsy plastic.

Nevertheless, more often than not you will not be eradicating this and it fits nicely into the contoured chassis - the mesh really feel on the rear also helps keep your hand from getting heat during prolonged holding.

The other thing you will notice while you first decide up the Galaxy S2 is the display - at 4.3 inches it is hard to miss, and whenever you flip it on the Super AMOLED plus technology hits you square within the eyeballs (once it’s bought by the toughened Gorilla Screen).

We known as the Samsung Galaxy S “the perfect telephone in the marketplace for media” after we reviewed it, because of its first-gen Tremendous AMOLED screen. Now the Galaxy S2 has undoubtedly improved on that, with a perfectly crisp and vibrant screen.

The one problem is a slightly schizophrenic auto-brightness - should you try and save battery by having the sensor monitor ambient gentle ranges, then the screen decides to bounce about with gentle ranges even in same conditions.

UPDATE: Samsung has released a fix to unravel this downside already, so forget about it. Un-read what you just read. We might delete it, however that may be lying to you.

In the hand, the Galaxy S2 sits significantly better than we might have anticipated, given the whopping display screen on provide, and that is principally down to its slim depth.

The entrance of the phone is fairly sparse, with the house key the only piece of furnishings on offer. This rectangular button flanks two touch-delicate buttons - Menu and Back - so there’s no room for contextual search here.

The volume keys are located on the left-hand facet, and the ability/lock key’s on the opposite flank; each are simple sufficient to hit without error, and crucially the travel on the power secret’s softer so that it’s much simpler to hit if you’re juggling it in the palm - examine that to its predecessor, where you would by accident drop it making an attempt to close off the screen.

The 3.5mm headphone jack lives on the highest of the telephone, bucking the decrease placement on different 4.3-inch display screen telephones, and the microUSB slot (which also doubles as an HDMI out port) lives on the bottom.

The only other ingredient of note is the 8.1MP digicam with single LED flash on the rear - it’s slightly raised, but not so much that it disrupts the Galaxy S2 while you’re putting it on a table, thanks to a rear lip that can assist you maintain the phone.

We really (foolishly, in hindsight) unboxed the telephone whereas bouncing about on a powerboat on the Thames - and by chance, there was a digital camera rolling the entire time. (note - we’re effectively conscious of the stupid spec errors on the boat. Some had been right down to data given to us by Samsung that has since changed, and some resulting from sheer confusion at being thrown ten feet within the air and having our spine crushed.)
